With the EU support, six NGOs from both banks of the Dniester river benefit from small grants

With the EU support, six NGOs from both banks of the Dniester river benefit from the small grants for the activities that support the development of early intervention models for children with special needs, aged 0-7. The grants, in the amount of 4500 EURO each, are provided within the “Improving access to community-based early years and preschool support services for vulnerable children with special needs in Moldova” project funded by the European Union and implemented by Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC).

The winning NGOs are:

  • ”Sprijin și Speranță” NGO, Ungheni;
  • „Speranta” NGO, Cahul;
  • The association for the support of children and young people with special needs ”Dorința”, Calarasi;
  • The parents’ association of people with disabilities “Eternitate”, Obreja Veche, Falesti;
  • „Alfa Beta” NGO, Ungheni;
  • the Charity Fund „Детство детям”, Transnistria.

During six-month period the above-mentioned NGOs will carry out various activities focused on understanding of the importance of the support and early intervention for children with special needs by both parents and community as well as parents’ capacity building in caretaking and social and education inclusion of their children. Among the specific activities planned by the winning NGOs include the development of support programmes for children with disabilities, aged 0/3-7, parents’ empowerment, informational and raising awareness events through social theatre performances, flash mobs, communication platform etc.

The project is implemented by P4EC, in collaboration with the consortium of British organizations MellowParenting and HealthProm, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Research, the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Social Protection, and the authorities of the 5 pilot districts of the project. The total value of the project of 680 000 EUR is funded by the European Union.
