Child-Friendly version of UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children

Thursday, February 12, 2015

First in the region, Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC) developed a child-friendly version of UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children.

The core message of the work is that every child should grow up in a family, and when it is impossible, the state must secure child protection within alternative family-type services.

The Guidelines were adapted by a group of communication experts, child’s rights protection experts, and teams of Advisory Boards of Children. The book was illustrated with children’s images, and its text was edited to become child friendly.

The publication of the child-friendly version of UN Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children was possible within the USAID-funded project “Ensuring the rights of children to a family, and their protection against violence, abuse, and neglect”, implemented by P4EC during 2010-2014.
