15 mothers with 5 children in Chisinau participated in November 2016-February 2017 in the parent education program “MellowParenting”, in collaboration with the Municipal Child’s Rights Protection Department.

At the first parent group closing event, Mrs. Rodica Terehovschi, Interim Head of Chisinau Municipal Child’s Rights Protection Department, handed in the participation certificates to the parents. “We are very happy to have this program in Chisinau municipality, and we would like it to go on, so that we are able to provide necessary professional support to young parents, enabling them to cope with the difficulties related to their babies birth”, said Mrs. Terehovschi.

In their turn, the beneficiaries of the program talked about its importance and usefulness for every parent, mentioning the positive changes they had noticed in their relations with their children, compared to the moment of the program beginning. The participants also noted their personal development progresses: higher self-esteem, self-confidence, etc.

The MellowParenting program was launched in 2016 in the Republic of Moldova, and its goal is to support parents in the strengthening of their parenting skills at various stages of the child’s development, starting with the pre-birth period until the preschool age. The program is based on principles of attachment, social learning and cognitive behaviour theory. It contains 14 group sessions that include lectures, homework, video sessions, joint activities with the participations of the parents and their babies, such as meals time, creative activities, etc.

The MellosParenting Program is implemented in Moldova by Partnerships for Every Child in collaboration with Chisinau Municipal Child’s Rights Protection Department, with the support of the World Childhood Foundation.
