Friday, December 05, 2014

Specialists from Social Assistance and Family Protection Departments of 6 raions (Ocnita, Soldanesti, Vulcanesti, Comrat, Taraclia, and Ciadir-Lunga), responsible for the development and implementation of the Foster Care Service (FC) participated in a training on the organization and functioning of the Foster Care Service in Moldova on 3rd and 4th December.

The event was organized by NGO Partnerships for Every Child (P4EC) within the project “Children in Moldova live in safe and secure families”, and is part of a series of national trainings.

The goal of the activity was to build the capacities of local teams in charge with the implementation of the FC Service, in line with the Minimum Standards of Quality and the revised Regulation, approved this September.

“…Both the seminar and the service itself are very useful, and we wish that our raion had more families providing this service!” – said Rusu Vladimir, Child’s Rights Protection Specialist, Soldanesti raion.

According to the existing legislation, the state provides salaries, employment record books, health insurances to Foster Carers, and the children in placement are paid state indemnities.

The Foster Care Service is under implementation since 2000 in Moldova. Currently there are 325 foster carers and 971 children in placement.
