Assessment data of two special residential schools – Special residential school for children with impaired hearing in Hirbovat, Calarasi, and Special residential school for deaf children in Cahul – was discussed on Friday, 12th February, at a meeting between the administration of the Ministry of Education and representatives of Partnerships for Every Child /P4EC/.
The assessment was performed by P4EC at the request of the Ministry in 2015.
The goal of the assessment was to define the concept of the educational system reform for hard of hearing children in the Republic of Moldova, including planning of the two specialized institutions’ reorganization, considering the needs of the placed children and their deinstitutionalization opportunities.
The assessment results demonstrate that children with impaired hearing can be successfully integrated into community mainstream schools.
The assessment of the specialized residential school for children with impaired hearing in Hirbovat, Calarasi, and special residential school for deaf children in Cahul was done under the agreement signed with the Ministry of Education and Cahul and Calarasi regional councils, within the USAID-funded project “Children in Moldova live in safe and secure families”.
