A new donation from the Síol Foundation from Ireland amounting to 50,000 EUR to fight COVID-19

6 placement centers for adults with disabilities and 2 centers for children with disabilities are equipped with protective equipment against the new virus COVID-19. The donation is represents the new financial support in the amount of 50,000 EUR provided by the Síol Foundation from Ireland. The total amount offered so far by the Foundation to the Moldovan Government makes up 100,000 EUR. The financial support is managed by the NGO “Partnerships for every child” / P4EC / in agreement with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection.

The protective equipment amounting to 500,000 MDL: surgical masks, respirator masks, surgical gloves, protective suits, medical gowns, shoe covers, bonnets, eye protection goggles, visors, infrared thermometers and disinfectant were provided to the following institutions:

  • Placement centre for the elderly and persons with disabilities from Chisinau;
  • Placement centre for the elderly and persons with disabilities from Cocieri village, Dubasari district;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Cocieri village, Dubasari district;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Bădiceni village, Soroca district;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Balti;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Brinzeni village, Edinet district;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Hincesti;
  • Temporary placement centre for persons with disabilities (adults) from Orhei.

According to the P4EC director, Daniela Mămăligă “the financial support provided by our Irish partners will also be used to support families with children at risk that will be identified in cooperation with the child protection authorities in the districts”.

The first grant, in the amount of 50,000 EUR, was offered by the Síol Foundation to the Moldovan Government at the end of March this year. It was used to procure medical and protective equipment for several healthcare facilities of Moldova and for the temporary placement center for children with disabilities from Hincesti.

The donation made it possible for 150 families with children at risk from 10 districts to receive food and personal hygiene packages.
