Family support service – friendly and useful to families with children in difficulty in Moldova

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Training of community social assistants in the delivery of Family Support Service is a very useful activity to support families with children in difficulty. When implemented, this service will help to prevent institutionalization and strengthen families, which is one of the main objectives of the residential child care system reform in Moldova, said at a training seminar Victoria Prodius, interim Head of Briceni raion Social Assistance and Family Protection Department.

Partnerships for Every Child continues its training program for local public authorities, to develop the Family Support Service for families with children. The second raion to be included into the program was Briceni, where community social assistants participated in a 3-days training (7th-9th October). They were informed about the Family Support Service Regulations, the service’s Minimum Standards of Quality, and the new services created at the national level.

The seminar was organized within the USAID-supported project “Ensuring the right of the child to a family and his protection from violence, abuse, neglect, and exploitation”.
