20 foster carers and 4 applicants for the position of foster carer from Causeni, Donduseni and Orhei districts participate today in a specialized training on the assistance and care of separated or unaccompanied children refugees from Ukraine. The training is aimed at training foster carers' skills to provide care for unaccompanied and separated children from Ukraine who will be placed in alternative family-type care.

Mr. Gheorghe Trofin, Child Protection Officer from UNICEF Moldova who was present at the event, declared “in our country, there are about 50 thousand refugee children from the neighboring country of whom it is estimated that 2 percent are without parental supervision. This training takes place in a context in which the Republic of Moldova wants every refugee child to be safe and receive care and nurturing in a family environment,” Mr. Trofin said.

The training is organized by NGO “Partnerships for every child”, with the support of UNICEF Moldova, Changing the Way We Care Initiative and Catholic Relief Services.
