Official launch of “Partnerships for Every Child”

On May, 24 2012 Partnerships for Every Child was officially launched. The event was attended by the President of the Parliament, Marian Lupu, ministers, deputies, partners from aborad and mass-media.

“Partnerships for Every Child” will continue reforms started by “EveryChild”.

“Civil society is the governance opponent, however in most cases it is also its partner. We will go on supporting this partnership to meet with united efforts national objectives”. The Declaration was done by the President of the Parliament Marian Lupu within the festivity with the occasion of the official launch of “Partnerships for Every Child”.

President of the Parliament saluted new organization launch and mentioned that we are witnessing the start of independent living of a local project, which is the civil society evolution process.

Partnerships for Every Child is a legal successor of EveryChil Moldova which ahs been working for over 15 years in child rights protection in the Republic of Moldova.

Stela Grigoras, the director of Partnerships for Every Child mentioned that in this period organization managed to implement many projects successfully, to change the fates of many children for better and contribute to child rights protection reform in Moldova.

Anna Feuchtwang, Chief executive of EveryChild UK appreciated the fact that in Moldova during this time the number of children in residential institutions has been reduced by half, the legal framework on family statute was strengthened.

Present at the event, Valentina Buliga, the Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family mentioned that partnerships between civil society and state authorities has an important role in social protection of children and families in difficulty.

“In the vortex of transformations lately, many children remained without parental care, were placed in residential institutions and do not know what the parents’ love and affection mean. The process of transformation of residential institutions is taking place thanks to civil society actions in most cases, that have come with new approaches, new attitude ”, Valentina Buliga mentioned.

Till present thanks to EveryChild there were worked out 10 new governmental policies. Around 10 thousand children were not separated from their families thanks to this organization intervention. With the support of EveryChild in Moldova every second residential institution has been reorganized. Thus 10 out of 20 institutions exposed to reorganization process in 2007 were covered by this structure.

Four schools for children with special needs were closed and tens of alternative to institutions services were created.

EveryChild collaborated with 26 authorities to develop social servicesthat would allow children to live with parents or extended family and not to be placed in residential institution.
