The first group of children and parents from Cantemir district participates in the PANDA Psycho-Social Assistance Programme, an educational programme with therapeutic elements addressed to families facing alcohol addiction. In March, children and parents from Cimislia, Stefan Voda and Taraclia districts will also start to attend this programme.

For 15 weeks, in individual or group sessions, children and adults will be encouraged to change their attitude towards the situation in the family, learn behavioural strategies in difficult situations, improve their self-image, self-confidence and ability to make decisions, etc.

The participants in the programme can be groups of children aged 4-16 and groups consisting of their parents, who are not addicted to alcohol. It should be noted that the participation of the parent who is not addicted to alcohol, in parallel with the child, develops a sense of unity and provides common topics for communication.

The PANDA programme is evidence-based and follows the model of the Swedish Ersta Vandpunkten. It has been implemented in 11 districts of the country since 2015 by the NGO “Partnerships for every child”.

The programme is implemented with the financial support of the EU within the project “For a society where girls and boys can thrive and reach their full potential with dignity” in Cantemir, Cimislia, Stefan Voda and Taraclia districts.
