Children and parents from Bardar village, Ialoveni district can now attend a renovated and equipped resource center for the local children and families. This is a friendly space where parents and children are able to meet and participate in community activities aimed at supporting and strengthening them. Similar centers will operate in Cosnita, Dubasari district, Vorniceni, Straseni district and in Hirtopul Mare, Criuleni district.
According to Natalia Semeniuc, project coordinator at “Partnerships for Every Child”, this center, created with the support of our partners and donors, represents an important step towards creating a more united and safe community for the smooth care, growth and development of children. The professionals engaged in the center's activities, such as community social worker, teachers, doctors, etc., will provide families with children with resources and support to strengthen their parenting skills, using a child-centered approach to empower and support them.
Guided by professionals, the local community of families and children will thus have more opportunities to share experiences, provide and receive mutual support, discuss various topics of common interest in a relaxed atmosphere, participate in meetings on topics of interest, designed to support the development of parenting skills and provide solutions to the challenges faced in raising children, in order to be able to support their children effectively and to better understand their needs.
In their turn, the representatives of the local public authorities thanked the project team and the donors for the opportunity offered to the communities to get well-equipped and useful spaces for families and professionals.
All these actions are part of the piloting of an efficient model of the social support service for families with children, especially the primary component, launched in May this year, which aims to strengthen the service and develop the primary component to ensure the well-being of children, stability of families and reduce their dependence on specialized support/interventions. The piloting is based on the data of a national analysis of the existing programs/activities of family support and consolidation, carried out in March-April 2024, in Criuleni, Dubasari, Ialoveni and Straseni districts that are subordinated to the Territorial Social Assistance Agency Center.
The Resource Center for children and families is created within the Changing the Way We Care (CTWWC) initiative implemented by Catholic Relief Services and Maestral International in collaboration with the project’s partners “Partnerships for Every Child”, CCF Moldova and Keystone Moldova and with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. CTWWC is funded in part by the Alliance for Global Development (USAID) and the GHR Foundation.
