Foster Care Service extends in Tiraspol

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

Three children residing on the left side of Dniester were placed into foster care families, and other eight will soon enjoy parental affection in the Foster Care Service recently launched in Tiraspol by NGOs “Detstvo-Detyam” from Tiraspol and “Partnerships for Every Child” from Chisinau, supported by UNDP “Supporting to Confidence-Building Measures” project.

Ana Palii, PfEC expert

“Tiraspol specialists and decision-makers in child protection previously made a study visit to Chisinau, after which they had practical activities within the project implementation.”

Natalia Raider, Director of “Detstvo – Detyam”

“58 identified families were prepared to foster orphans or children left without parental care. Once the children are placed, their birth families receive socio-psychological and legal assistance. The monitoring results show that the children placed into the service found an appropriate family and have successful experience”.

Victor Draguţan, UNDP manager

“The results obtained up to the present demonstrate that people on both sides of the Dniester River face similar problems, and when they unite their forces, they can find more efficient solutions to them.”
