Partnerships for Every Child organizes a series of workshop on SAFPD capacity building

On 22nd and 23rd December 2014 Partnerships for Every Child organized a workshop for the teams of Social Assistance and Family Protection Departments implementing the Family Support Service in line with the recently approved standards of quality and professional supervision mechanism

The event united 24 specialists from Soroca, Orhei, Nisporeni, Ungheni, Falesti, and Causeni raions, for the purpose of favouring the capacity building of SAFPD heads and child and family protection specialists from the mentioned 6 raions.

The issues discussed during this two-day work included: Family protection factors, Indicators of child’s well-being, Quality standards of the family support service, Supervision as element of SAFPD activity, etc.

Thus, the participants had possibility to exchange experiences and share positive practices gained during their activity, mentioning that “…although the Family Support Service is very complicated and has very strict requirements, its implementation is significantly facilitated by such communication between colleagues from different regions, because such trainings increase joint efficiency”.

The goal of the Family Support Service is to support the development of the family’s capacity to raise and educate own children, through the consolidation of protection factors within the family and connecting families to relevant community resources.

The Family Support Service is a core services supporting all families, and it involves interventions at various levels, focusing on the prevention and elimination of factors that may lead to risk situations, and on the prevention of child’s separation from family, preparing the family for the child’s reintegration.

The workshop was organized within the USAID-funded project “Children in Moldova live grow in safe and secure families”, implemented by Partnerships for Every Child in collaboration with Raion Councils of 10 pilot-regions.

Another workshop covering the same issues is planned to be held on 19th and 20th January 2015, for the same target group in Cahul, Calarasi, Telenesti, Singerei, and Rezina raions.
