Chisinau, 13th of December 2017. 45798 children and 33579 families have been supported, in the last four years, as a result of the family support and strengthening programmes development within ”Children in Moldova are cared for in strong and secure families” project, which was implemented in 11 districts of the country.

86 parents/carers who have children with special needs under 7, from Cahul, Calarasi, Falesti, Nisporeni, and Ungheni regions, participated during 30 October and 17 November 2017 in a training program containing two modules, focused on the acquisition and development by parents/carers of practical knowledge, necessary for the care of children with disabilities.

The first four practitioners of the MellowParenting educational program were accredited on Friday 19 May. The accreditation certificates were handed in by the representatives of MellowParenting organization from Great Britain, at a good practices exchange event organized for the practitioners from 9 regions of the country, participating in the program implementation.

The costing of the recently developed programs in 11 regions of the country, along with their funding mechanisms and further sustainability of the programs developed by Partnerships for Every Child /P4EC/ within the project Children in Moldova are cared for in safe and secure families were the issues discussed at the ordinary meeting with the heads and specialists of Social Assistance and Family Protection Departments of 11 regions on Tuesday, 16 March.

The MellowParenting educational program for parents extends in Orhei, Singerei, and Soroca. Thus, on 15-18 May 2017, two international experts of the MellowParenting program are delivering training to the future practitioners for the three mentioned regions, who will be licensed to run this program. Following the training, the practitioners will be supported to recruit parents, and to conduct and assess group sessions with them.

Members of the National Advisory Board of Children (NABC) met today, 11 May, for a new capacity-building workshop. Young advisors met the Minister of Labour, Social Protection and Family, Mrs. Stela Grigoras, and talked about the ministry’s recent achievements in child care.

Characteristics of the suicide behaviour and actions that need to be taken by professionals working with the child and the family in such cases were discussed during a specialized training on suicide prevention among children. Representatives of the Social Assistance and Family Protection Departments of 11 regions, psychologists, social workers from 3 multifunctional centres in Calarasi, Falesti, and Ungheni, participated in the event.

A group of psychologists and social assistants from multifunctional centres in the regions of Calarasi, Falesti, and Ungheni, are participating this week in a training specialized on techniques and methods of work with children who are victims of abuse. The training is provided by the British organization KCA specialized in this area.

The National Practice Model /NPM/ will be implemented in Calarasi, Falesti, and Ungheni regions in March-May 2017. The goal of the NPM is to unify the efforts of decision-makers and professionals in four sectors: education, health, public order, and social assistance, for the prevention of risks and to ensure the well-being of every child.
